2020/21 State Championships follow a different format to a typical year.
Progression to the State Championships will be via a ‘State Qualifier Event’ held by each Region. We fall under Region 5 and our Qualifier event will be 6-7 February 2021 at Narrabeen.
Final Nominations and performances will be submitted by HDLAC by 31 December and athletes will be notified of their selection by 15 January.
For those who wish to understand more detail on the selection process, please read on:
To participate in the State Qualifier event, centres will nominate athletes who have expressed interest and met a qualification mark. As at 19 December, each centre will have one automatic entry per age group, per event, with the remaining 14 places being allocated across all centres, based on submitted performances. Athletes can only nominate for a maximum of FOUR events. Each event, per age group, will have a maximum of four athletes per centre.
The Qualification Marks have been set by LANSW and have been determined by taking the final place performance at last year’s Region 5 Championships.
The number of athletes progressing from the qualifier to State Championships (to be held at Sydney Olympic Park on 20/21st March) is anticipated as the first two places at each of the 8 regions, with the next best 8 across all regions, making a total of 24 athletes at each event. This is subject to change depending on NSW Health Guidelines.
There will be direct entry to the State Championships for U13-U17. More information will be released prior to end December.
