Progression to State: U8 athletes do not progress past the Region Championship. At the Region carnival there are two automatic places which progress through to Region. Then a maximum of eight next best qualifiers taken from all 8 Regional carnivals.
Uniform: The Hornsby Uniform must be worn with the following in order to compete. This is the same uniform that was worn at the Zone Championships:
- Cloth Registration Number on the front of the Centre Uniform top with the red border fully visible
- Coles Patch on the front right shoulder of the Centre Uniform top (this can be collected at check in if you don’t have one)
- Age Patch on the front left-hand side leg (this is worn at Saturday competitions)
Please note, there will be no leniency shown at Region marshalling. Any competitor not correctly attired will be sent to the Team Manager to correct their uniform, but please note, the event will not be held waiting for them to return.
Parent Duties: We’ve been given our Hornsby duties for Regionals at SOPAC, which are:
Saturday 10th Feb
- Competition Arena Entry Marshall – North End of Track
Sunday 11th Feb
- TRACK MARSHALLING Athlete Walker
- Relay Change Assistant
- U10 Girls and Boys high jump
No special skills are required – there will be Key Officials running these events, so you just need to follow instructions on the day.
Please go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0D45AAAC2EA5FA7-47432078-regional for more information, times and to volunteer for a duty. Little Athletics relies on parent help and the Regional Championships can’t take place without parent volunteers. Each family is expected to fill a duty on the weekend (some families/parents are already filling Key Official duties or acting as Team Managers). If you are available for PM slots, please put your names down for these as they are always harder to fill.
Weather: The Region Championships will go ahead regardless of the weather, so athletes and parents should come prepared with hats and sunscreen as well as umbrellas and raincoats! In the event of extreme conditions – excessive heat, storms or flooding – the Championships may be delayed or temporarily suspended. Any decision to delay or postpone the Championships will be made by the Region Committee and advised to Centre Team Managers as soon as possible.
There is no back-up date – the carnival must be completed over this weekend
